School is more than just a place for academic learning – it’s a thriving community that includes students, their families, and staff. As your child’s first teacher, you bring a deep knowledge and insight into your child’s learning needs, strengths and interests. Taking the time to share this with us is vital.
Research indicates that when parents are actively involved in their child’s school life, students tend to achieve more, feel more confident, and develop a more positive attitude toward learning. Your engagement helps your child feel connected, valued, and in control of their educational journey.

Positive relationships between families and the school are key to student success. Communicating regularly with your child’s teacher ensures a shared understanding of learning goals and wellbeing needs. How You Can Get Involved
Being part of our school community means there are many ways to participate – both formally and informally:
- Classroom Volunteer: Help organise or assist in reading groups and learning activities.
- Excursions and Camps: Volunteering for these activities is a fantastic way to get involved in school life. You get to see students and teachers in action, get to know your child’s teachers and friends, and experience your child in different learning environments, like outdoor and adventure settings.
- Specialist Support: Lend a hand in areas you may be passionate about and possess skills in, like Art, PE, or classroom STEM projects.
- Whole-School Events: Our Cross-Country, Senior Athletics, and Swimming Programs are successful due to the collaboration and participation of teachers and parents. Whether acting as marshals, helping out on the finish line, supervising events or ensuring all students board the bus at the end of the day, our whole-school events wouldn’t be as enjoyable and successful without parental assistance.
- Community Engagement Activities: Volunteer at BBQs, attend morning teas organised by parent classroom representatives, help out at coffee club, or lend a hand with our annual BPPS Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls.
- Gardening and Facilities: Join a working bee if you enjoy getting out in the fresh air, digging in the dirt and contributing to our outdoor spaces.
- School Governance: Nominate for the School Council and contribute to shaping the school’s future.
Why Your Involvement Matters
Your participation not only supports the school but also shows your child that their learning is valued and matters. It builds their confidence, gives them pride in their school, and strengthens the relationship between home and classroom.
