This week our Keen Green Team were visited by Mark who has a role in the Education Department leading Marrung. Marrung is the Victorian Government’s 10-Year Aboriginal Education Plan (2016-2026) focused on empowering Koorie people to achieve their learning goals. This is achieved by integrating First Nations culture, creating inclusive environments, and ensuring educational systems are responsive and respectful. Successful implementation is evidenced through increased Koorie student engagement and cultural programs in schools.
Mark shared an Acknowledgement of Country with the students. He also shared language and told us how we can learn, in the spirit of Marrung.
He helped the team to look at the age of one of our trees, clear the space around the tree and support it’s care.
