Hello Everyone, There’s a palpable buzz about the place this week as the preparations for Saturday’s Fair escalate and the anticipation of the big event intensifies. The excitement will grow further this afternoon and tomorrow as the rides arrive, marquees are erected, goods are delivered and the place becomes a hive of activity. Many thanks to all those who have volunteered to assist: with the set-up (tomorrow and/or Saturday); with the stalls and activities on the day; and with the pack-up/clean-up (Saturday evening and/or Sunday). We are so lucky to have people willing to be so generous with their time and energy. Having said that, we still desperately need assistance for the 7.30 pm timeslot on Saturday across a range of areas. Please contact Bek, Jacquie or Kylie W if are able to help out. We also need more volunteer bakers for the Cake Stall. Cake and biscuit packs are available from school or, if you can’t get in to collect one, please ring Narelle on 0425 845722 and she will arrange to get one to your child to bring home. “What’s on at the Fair?” I hear you ask. Fancy a ride? You can choose from the UFO and Hurricane thrill rides, Dodgem Cars, Chair-o-Swing, Egyptian Activity Inflatable, Surf Shack Slide and Clown Van (all from Auscorp Amusements), or have a go at all of them. Please note that your pre-ordered wristbands should have arrived home with your children this afternoon. Maybe a sedate pony ride (donated by Valley Park Riding School) is more to your liking. The Live Auction (at 5.00 pm) is always a major attraction (the catalogue will be emailed as an attachment to this edition of the newsletter) and the Silent Auction in the Hall will have over 100 items on which you can bid until 7.30 p.m. You’re bound to get a little peckish during the day, in which case you can choose from: a BBQ Brothers Souvlaki or BBQ corn on the cob (sponsored by Panoramic Pools); a wood-fired pizza from Soul Kitchen; a sizzled sausage or vegi burger (sponsored by I Got Wood); a hot dog; an ice cream (Melbourne Ice Creams); or Popcorn and Fairy Floss (sponsored by Balwyn Skin). These will probably give you a thirst so you can choose from: 99% fruit slushies (sponsored by Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Burwood): Beans for You tea, coffee, hot chocolate or chai (sponsored by Micro Image); or a tipple from the Beer and Wine Garden (sponsored by Dick Reynolds Building) which will also have Beat Whip Lick Gourmet share platters available (Sponsored by the Genitsaris Family). If you’re looking for something to take home, you could ‘fair’ no better than visiting the Cake Stall in the hall where delicious cakes, biscuits and jams will be on sale.
